Gressa Winter '22 Holiday Collection

January 12, 2023

My first foray into Gressa Makeup started with this limited edition set. Oh, hey beautiful! Included are Chaplin, Prince, Sarai, and Devi. Taken from their website:

[eye tint]
Prince: enchanted, deep, mysterious forest green with just enough sparkle to make it stand out.
Prince: psychedelic, otherworldly, fairytale violet purple you'll want to smear on everything.

[lip boost]
Devi: a clear, pure, sheer lip balm with sparkle. Wear it alone or on top of your favorite color to give it an extra boost.
Sarai: crimson, vermillion, flushed, fresh, and blooming. This is a glossy, sheer, warm red balm that performs like a glossy stain.

Aside from the very fitting names, the fun colors offered in this set are what really got me. I hesitated getting the set at first because I may be going against my own color palette as a self-proclaimed Dark Autumn. I mean, a violet? Gloss? Sparkles? But wow this winter collection is simply irresistible. I am just happy to be able to put fun back in my makeup play. OK let's jump onto the review!

The eye tints. I was gifted a pot of eye tint in Obscure about a year ago by a dear friend and I absolutely loved it as an eyeliner. The other cream eye shadows that I have tried are RMS Eye Polish and (M)anasi7 Eye Glow. In comparison, The Gressa eye tints feel more lightweight on my eyelids, a little less creamy and dewy looking but still silky and emollient to the touch. Gressa eye tints also have really good staying power with minimal creasing and oh do I have oily lids! Of course, given that you won't be rubbing your eyes. I have even heard that some use Gressa eye tints as a base for their eye shadows.

I'm wearing Chaplin for smokey eye look

Chaplin: I have been looking for dark green eyeliner to accentuate my dark brown eyes. To me though, Chaplin appears like a metallic grey with a green hue so my search is not over yet. I would prefer to see a true deep green without any sparkles as I find the sparkles a little finicky to use as an eyeliner but the name Chaplin may not have been fitting otherwise. I still ended up enjoying the shade though and I could do sultry smokey eyes look with it.

On the eyes, I am wearing Prince as an eyeliner and also dab Devi on my eyelid, careful not to dab it too close to Prince. I also wore Devi on my lips.

Prince: This was the color that I felt like I was gambling with.. would it look too pastel-y? would it make me regret getting the set? but hey, that's the fun in make-up maybe I could just get away with it because after all... it's not like I would be wearing the color! It would just be a little highlight?! I will proclaim now that I would have regretted it 100% if I didn't get the set because I truly LOVE Prince as an eyeliner! I even think that it's suitable for everyday use given that maybe you do not go to a professional setting because it's just too much fun. I have also tried wearing this as an eyeshadow but coordinating a violet eye with a look and an outfit is just too much effort at the moment. Unless you have any input?

The lip boosts. I find Gressa lip boosts to have a balmy texture with a glossy finish. They are meant to be multi-purpose but not everybody will not mind the slight stickiness. Sarai and Devi in particular I think have been created to be even glossier than their permanent lip boost offering. I don't typically buy a lip gloss but sometimes, you can find me using (M)anasi7 Cristallo or some sort of lip oil because I just love how cocooning these products feel on my lips.

Sarai: You know, I am surprised to find out how sheer the red shade is. It reminds me of Olio E Osso's Crimson but warmer. And a little more sheer! I am fine with that because this allows for easy coordination with my outfit. This will just give me that liiiitle hint of color and I can totally imagine this being that one makeup item to grab and go. It perks me up!

Devi: This is a clear balmy gloss with sparkles. Very visible silver sparkles. I'm not sure how often I would reach out for Devi in the future but at the moment, I am having fun with it. Very holiday season look.

Wew, what a set right? Such stunning products that I forget that it is all 100% natural and made with very minimal ingredients. Gressa makes products that sound too good to be true so my wishlist is definitely growing!
